The Preparation & Resigning
After having the idea and vision of travelling around Australia since 2011, it seemed like a dream that was not going to come true. Family and friends were intrigued by the idea but nothing was set in stone to make the dream come true
The obvious questions would come to mind:
How much money will it cost?
When shall we travel?
What will we see and visit?
Where will we stay and camp?
All of the above questions still remain a question and have an air of uncertainty with the exception of "When shall we travel?" In early 2016, a tentative date was set for January 2017 which gave a good 12 months of ensuring everything was in place to hit the road.
So what preparations have been done?
Purchase of a sufficient vehicle (Navara D40)
Upgrade of Navara:
Snorkel
2" lift kit - Old Man Emu Suspension & Airlockers
Bushranger Winch installation
GME UHF Radio installation
Long Range Diesel Tank installations
Air Compressor
Coopers ST Max Tyres
ARB fridge, Red Arc and Secondary Battery
ARB Canopy
Roof Rack installation
Tow Bar installation
Purchase of an off-road camper - Conqueror Commander S
Built a new shed for storage
Sold existing furniture
Put personal items into storage
Rent out house / got a house mate to look after the property whilst away
AND the most scary task to accomplish is finally resigning from a full time position and committing to actually travel.
So ahead of travelling, spending Christmas with the family is essential before we hit the road!
