Hinze Dam, Advancetown (QLD)
April 17, 2017

After exploring 'The Spit' on the northern part of the Gold Coast, we headed futher south towards Advancetown to check out Hinze Dam in the hinterland region of the Gold Coast. The dam itself is apparently the main drinking water supply for the Gold Coast region.
Â
Hinze Dam is 1 of 6 dams that permit dogs in the recreational areas providing they remain leashed at all times. The other dams that permit dogs are scattered around Queensland and include:
Atkinson Dam, Atkinsons Dam (QLD)
Ewen Maddock Dam, Glenview (QLD)
Lake Macdonald, Lake Macdonald (QLD)
Maroon Dam, Maroon (QLD)
Moogerah Dam, Moogerah (QLD)
We parked in the main car park near to picnic park-lands and explored the main park-lands, pocket park and then headed up towards the upper car park to check out the outer side of the dam wall.

Unfortunately I dont think dogs are allowed up to the main point, so we didn't end up venturing further and opted to take photos and had lunch before heading back to the main carpark.
