Beerwah Caravan Park (Gowinta Farms) Review

As Autumn came to an end, we decided that we should probably start to head north and aim to be up in far north Queensland by the end of June. We decided to skip past Brisbane and find a dog friendly camp that was in close proximity to Bribie island and the Sunshine Coast Beaches.

After looking at the options, we decided to set up camp at Beerwah Caravan Park (Gowinta Farms) that was about 30km from both destinations.

The caravan park itself was one of the cheaper options ($28.56 per night / $200 per week) and the rate was probably reflective to the location, the facilities (IE doesn't have your typical facilities such as pools and kids playground areas) and the fact that the park is situated on a working farm. Due to being on a working farm, a lot of the surrounding areas were private properties, therefore we had to drive somewhere to take the dogs for a walk or just walk them around the grounds.

However, the facilities and amenities offered were more than sufficient for us with spacious camp spots, easy access to a communal kitchen, toilets, showers and a picnic area in the centre of the park. What really caught my eye and attention was how resourceful the park owners had been with converting old storage containers into such facilities.

Surrounding the caravan park itself were the working farms for strawberries and pineapples. This was the first time ever that we had seen pineapple plants and how they are farmed.

Just up the road from the fruit farms there is a wholesale / retail family butcher that have a decent selection of rump steaks, sausages, pork and lamb chops. We decided to stock up on the grass fed rump steak @ $9/kg and within a 5 minute drive were local farmers stalls for fresh fruit and veg.

Overall, we enjoyed the stay here. We would return in the future perhaps to explore the Glass House Mountains National Park or visit Australia Zoo
