Sheldon Caravan Park, Eight Mile Plains (QLD) Review
May 12, 2017
|
Â
Initially we had planned to stay at Sheldon Caravan Park for 6, possibly 7 weeks whilst completing a short term contract. Unexpectedly, we ended up staying for 119 nights (17 weeks) due to contract extensions and ended up paying $4760 worth of caravan park fees. Despite the unexpected outlay on caravan park fee's, it was definitely a profitable stay with the earnings from the contract going into the travel funds.
Â
We had set up camp on site 42, which was a short walk away from the ablutions, store, pool and BBQ area. The plots were a little on the small side with a tight squeeze to park the car but still it was an adequate and liveable space.

The park was generally kept clean and tidy throughout our stay and we had no issues whatsoever; even after hurricane 'Debbie' had passed through! The staff were extremely friendly (Murray and Bev in particular) along with a number of the local residents (Hi Wendy!) who lived there permanently and often came over to pat the dogs :)Â

The location is conveniently located for any city commuter with a bus stop just outside the caravan park gates. I hopped onto the number 161 which runs every half hour and takes you directly into Brisbane CBD (25 mins).
Â
In close proximity (5 mins walk), there is a Dog Park which is a designated, fenced off leash exercise area called Holmeade Park. This backs onto Bulimba Creek and the bikeways and was great for the dogs getting 2-3 outings per day!
The only negatives from our side were perhaps the sites were a little smaller than we would have hoped and the shop was way over priced, however Coles is only a short drive away.
We will definitely return in the future and would recommend this place to any dog owner looking for a dog friendly caravan park within close proximity to Brisbane CBD
